Nasal irrigation effect of using the Nose Fresh solution® after nasal surgery

Abstract

|
Back ground and objectives : The nasal irrigation is very effective on various nasal disease such as chronic sinusitis, chronic rhinitis and septal deviation etc. The effect on nasal irrigation is assumed to be the clearance of nasal secretion, debris and intranasal crust. The most used material for nasal irrigation is normal saline. But to enhance the nasal irrigational effect, the other additional material was studied. The objective of this study was to know the effect of Nose fresh solution® composed of normal saline, benzethonium chloride, benzyl alchol and polysorbate 80. Material and method : We studied the symptom score by the use of questionnaire after use of Nose fresh solution®. Total 125 patients suffered form chronic sinusitis, rhinitis and septal deviation were performed the nasal surgery. They did the nasal irrigation with Nose fresh solution® after nasal surgery for 4 weeks. And then, their symptoms were recorded by the questionnaire during each OPD follow up. Results : The nasal symptoms such as nasal discharge, crust formation, post nasal drip were improved in most patients who used Nose fresh solution®. The nasal symptoms were especially much more improved in case of long term use of Nose fresh solution®. But the problems of Nose fresh solution® are hard to carry-out, nasal pain and etc. Conclusion : Nose fresh solution® would be useful as along term nasal washing solution in the surgical patients with a history of chronic nasal diseases.
